GULLY BOY !
Gully boy is an upcoming age story of a rapper which symbolizes numerous other struggling rappers who revolve around slums of India. Zoya Akthar once again hits the jackpot with her recent directorial venture depicting some real scenarios combined with some gruesome emotions. One thing which differentiates Gully boy from other slumdog millionaire stuffs are-- it doesn't really shows us the high points, Zoya focuses on the struggles and cuts out the glorious moments --as simple as it is.
At no point Ranvir Singh seems an unfit to his character, he just pulls it out like there is none. But equal applause must be transferred to Siddhant Chaturvedi who single handedly drives most of the scenes with enormous screen presence. Combo scenes between Gully boy and Sher seems to strike the chord in most of the phases. Alia Bhatt portrays what she has done in several movies with at most easiness. Songs play a crucial part in this movie accompanied with some rapid fire lyrics.
Visualization and editing is crisp and up to the point. Well in these kinds of films you commonly tend to witness ups and downs of the protagonist, but this one shows us real characters and emotions as I mentioned above. Even in the climax portion when you are expecting some thing big to be delivered by our Gully boy, Zoya turns it with a low key one which dramatically turns out to be game changer.
'Apna Time Aayega' which was one of the promotional song marketed with excellent precision which pierced into the minds of the viewers, was indeed a showstopping moment when drawing into the climax.
And its definitely 'Apna Time Aa Gaya' for the cast and crew !
