CBI 5

The much anticipated CBI 5 which was meant to be a fresh take on the franchise turned out to be a film which revolved around cliche and outdated scenes. The most worst part of the film has to be its dialogues. SN Swamy who has penned scripts for numerous super hits has never really reformed his script writing ability with time. And the lack of engaging factors in the script clearly harnessed the entertainment quotient of the movie.

But the movie starts on a promising note and the premise also gives us a gripping first impression. Moving forward, after the introduction of Iyer, the film doesn't hold any quality scenes. Apparently, there are also some coincidental references in the movie, which hasn't gone well with the viewers. Shortening the run time with some crisp editing could have made this film a tad entertaining. Mammootty in his trademark style doesn't really offer anything new and the co-actors including the likes of Soubin, Ranji Panickar and others are hidden from the limelight mainly due to the poorly written script.

Amid all the defects, movie had a decent outing in the box office and turned out to be a family winner. This surge in collection could be due to the brand value which the CBI franchise held in the past. There are rumours around a CBI 6, but the team needs to bring out something extraordinary to the table if they are even thinking of releasing the next addition to the franchise. Till then, CBI 5 gets the tagline of the worst film in the franchise!
