DON
Don is your usual Sivakarthikeyan movie which has its shares of flow and ebbs. Even though the movie was the biggest blockbuster in the filmography of SK, the formulaic concept which yields this result doesn't offer anything new to the audience. Story of the film which revolves around a college setup for the majority of its run time adds that much needed freshness into the movie. But what clicks for the film big time is the performance of SJ Surya. The combination scenes between Sk and Surya is much more entertaining comparing to the whole movie.
Yes, don has peppy songs and engaging bgm scored by Anirudh, but it really stands apart from the film as you could see that the songs are inserted in regular intervals without providing that much needed impact. Apparently, Don has a lot of Sk oneliners, comic scenes which has gone well with the audience.
SK who came up with a versatile role in his previous movie doctor has now switched into his comfort zone here in Don. Considering this as a movie for the mass, there is no point in arguing about the realistic elements in these sort of movies. What could have been an average movie turned out to be a tad above that with a gripping ending. Samudhrakani with his stunning performance in the last 20 minutes or so makes this movie a watchable one.
As a whole SK needs to look beyond what he is actually capable of. Don never really stays with you, but yes it also has its moments.
