AWE.!
An Awesome Tale
With the support of a stunning cast, merged with an intriguing screenplay, Awe definitely stands out as a cult film in the Telugu film industry or rather in the Indian film industry. When the teaser of the film was released, it showcased something compelling for the viewers to wait for and the film delivers in an audacious manner too. At first, a viewer may experience a common pattern of non-linear film making, but going into the flesh of the film you tend to witness something different.
Reviewing these kinds of films are too difficult since you somewhere tend to add spoilers to complete the process. Having seen many films like this in Hollywood, Awe can be termed as a great experiment rather than a mere attempt. There are seven different stories attached to a single thread narrated in a non-linear pattern concluded on the same knot. We need to analyse each and every scene in order to connect to next scene and the crisp editing makes it even tough to do so. Director concludes the film quite successfully connecting all the dots, but still with some lapses here and there which can be unavoidable considering the effort taken. I personally felt the climax was explained at a rapid pace which confused majority of the viewers. Still there are some sequences which needed mandatory explanations, but you know in a film of this genre, you can't answer every questions. Technical department was at top notch with the assistance of a quality BGM.
You can even see that the director has given some probable hints even in the title of the film which can be noticed if you are good analyzer. I am quite wondered by the story line where the crew tries to include several hot contents such as same sex relationship, mental trauma, child abuse and they have quite succeeded in doing so in a limited time frame.
As a voracious film-goer, I am very much interested in the fact that to what extend a film can move on in an unorthodox manner such as films like this. Not every time you witness this amount of creative improvisation in a film without compromising on the commercial factor.
Awe is a bench mark in terms of creative film-making, which may stand as a path for several other filmmakers to follow. When you are bored of seeing the same tea in different cups, why don't you experience an 'AWE' tea in a cup which the filmmaker defines.
Awe.!
