NINE !

Termed as the first Sci-fi movie in Malayalam film industry and the pioneer production of Prithviraj, this film has gathered quite lot of bulk expectations when it was in progress. Even though the director's previous outing ( 100 days of love ) fell badly in the box office, the film was technically sound which was a major take away for him and the viewers. And I have seen some good marketing gimmicks which has been used for the promotion of this movie which again adds up to the expectation bar. So let's jump in for something out of the world as the makers suggests.

I am not going into any of the scenes, story line or something which acts as a spoiler and I definitely recommend everyone to watch it in big screens. This one is a technical show piece and I never remember a Malayalam movie which is technically brilliant as this which completely glues to the genre. Well the first half seems to be as promised out of the world for me, revolving around a rare incident which is quite interesting.

Coming to the second half, the director seems to be caught up between a mix of several genres. May be he was intending to increase the thrill factor, but somewhere the viewers were starting to loose their grip and output was an illogical script which was fine till the first half. But the director concluded the movie very well, and even this climax was an experimental one which most of the viewers couldn't digest properly. And Somewhere you ought to think that director was having the climax in mind and was dragging the film in order to reach there.

But in spite of all this lapses, this one will be a benchmark in Malayalam film industry. Not every time you will get something of this quality. Nine is definitely a great cinematic experience which may shake a bit, but still watchable for its technical brilliance, intriguing story telling and some outstanding performances.

Kudos Jenus Mohammed and crew, that was indeed out of the world !
