HALAL LOVE STORY
There is an element of freshness when you come across the recent OTT release 'Halal love story', be it the weirdness of the lead character performed by Indrajith, or the grace act depicted by Grace Antony, or the matureness of Joju as the Director, or the energy enacted by Parvathy in a small cameo role, everything seems to add up to the freshness factor of the film. The one thing which caught up my mind is, even though it has a cliche story, every actor/actress has played a role in this film which has not been played before by them on screen. After the well acclaimed 'Sudani from Nigeria', Zakariya once again pulls the right chord when it comes to casting by placing an all star cast in a zone which stands out from their comfort zone for each of the actors.
A story set in the backdrop of a Muslim community with conventional mindsets trying to make a film to their community pretty much sums up the whole story. And the whole catch is when the makers of the film (in the film) decides to cast a real couple to handle the reel story. Zakariya once again reminds us of the natural beauty of north Kerala, which is showcased in a breathtaking manner along with some beautiful songs.
Every moment in this film is covered with light humorous dialogues which makes the viewers laugh their heart out after some time. Apparently, Halal love story could have been nothing less than a blockbuster if it would have been released in big screens and would have surely gathered large number of families on to the theatres. In spite of all the positives, film lacks an unpredictable ending which may sound as the only con but apart from that it is thoroughly engaging from start to end. Directors like Zakariya makes a point by creating a space between art and commercial films and improvising in between to deliver quality contents.
Halal Love Story is pure freshness as the name suggests with a clean censor certificate from the viewers!
