Araattu
It is really devastating to see a talented combo of Mohanlal and B Unnikrishnan, who has delivered blockbusters like Madambi and Grandmaster to come off with this below average flick which really has nothing different in it. Termed as an out and out mass masala movie for the hardcore fans, Arattu struggles to even get its dialogues right. On the back stage, you could see Udaykrishna, a seasoned veteran penning these mediocre dialogues which was meant to invoke goosebumps, but you know what happened.
We had witnessed mass entertainers like Pulimurugan and Lucifer gaining box office collections only because of the fact that these movies had something different to offer. The typical entertainers which ruled Malayalam industries 10-15 years ago doesn't actually have that market or that sort of audience right now. The only saving grace of the film has to be Mohanlal's stunning looks. Another avoidable thing in the movie was bringing back some of Mohanlal's great dialogues and scenarios to invoke a nostalgic element, but rather it turned out to be an irritative stroke.
A main larger than life hero backed by its sidekicks in a usual village scenario amalgamated with some mediocre storyline sums up Araattu in a nutshell. Even though I missed the theatrical watch, I don't think it would have changed my perception much about this movie. Arattu is an avoidable mess to be precise!
