Salute
There are some reasons why 'Salute' the film is a talking point among cine goers
1. Rosshan Andrrews teams up with Bobby Sanjay to deliver a cop film after their genre defining sleeper hit Mumbai Police.
2. Dulquer after his blockbuster Kurup extends his production campaigns to produce this film
3. The controversies which happened between theratres association and crew post the OTT release of the film.
Coming to the movie, as Bobby Sanjay duo is known for, establishes the main characters and the others in a gradual manner and shifts the gears in the second half to produce a tight paced thriller. Even though the film moves slowly in its initial phase, there is a tension revolving around every scene giving us a haunting thought that something is going to happen in every upcoming scenes.
First of all this is not your usual cop story. It shows us the pros and cons of the police department. It also portays the highs and lows of every character which removed that superfuous element in a cop story which you are looking for. Dulquer Salman delivers a standard performance as 'Aravind', along with Manoj K Jayan and others who supports this film with their value added roles.
So whenever you see Roshhan Andrrews- Bobby- Sanjay duo on the screen, you normally expect something unconventional from them. As I said before, second half is where the film gains its investigative course. Each and every scene is crafted carefully so as to increase the thrill level of the movie. Made with a low budget, film excels in its technical department.
The film traverses through a familiar path till the climax and there is an element of differentiality in how the film ends. With all the hard work done, I found the ending of the film to be a unsatisfying and a non gripping one. Film ends with a fullstop, but still I searched for answers beyond that.
