Puzhu
Puzhu is a slowly moving animal and so is this film. It is a slow poised drama which is held by a strong cast. Mammooty playing a dark central character and Parvathy portraying a small but an effective role adds that additional flavour which the movie needs. Puzhu is a symbolic movie which has its inner meanings and metaphors through out.
What keeps the film going in spite of its slowness is the way in which Mammooty has moulded his character. The mannerisms he has given to his character and suspence created via his expressions was such a treat to watch. Appuni Sasi as Kuttappan delivers a peformance close to perfection. The film touches a lot of meaty issues such as caste discrimination, parenting, inner conflicts of every person and each of these segements are conveyed in an effective manner too.
Puzhu is a non- commercial movie which is rightly promoted that way. Jakes bejoy's bgm is haunting which suits well with atmosphere of the film. Even though film had a conclusive ending with the last dialogue perfectly in place, I found that some more explanation could have made the film a more complete one.
Puzhu is a different take on existing socially relevant issues which is worth watching once.
