The Kashmir Files

Despite adding so many controversies post release, Kashmir files is a decently made fictional film ( let us call it that way) which revolves around an alternate theory of the exodus of Kashmiri Pundits. What works here for the film is the performance of Anupam Kher, his side of the story is really appealing to watch. Alongside him, the casting looks pretty fine with Pallavi Joshi bringing out her best performance even though she had less screen time. We are not going into the political propoganda which the film holds ( you could watch it in youtube anyway), lets dwell deep into how the film as a whole connects with the audience.

Kashmir files emphasises on showing gruesome images of bloodshed which happened in the backdrop of the exodus. Makers made their intentions clear when they termed this movement as a genocide rather than a exodus in this movie. Film is slow poised but it builds an overall tension altogether which shows us the political scenario at that point of time. The narrative of the movie which traverses back and forth into different timelines which helps us to connect with the events without much confusion.

Post the second half, film mostly concentrates on the JNU campus incidents which was interesting to watch. Apparently, the film ends on a high emotional note and last scenes of the movies will stay in your mind for a while.

Amid the controversies, Kashmir files is a film worth having a quality discussion with the makers not compromising on the quality of the movie.
