TUMBBAD

After receiving swashbuckling appreciations from the nook and corner of Indian Film Industry, Tumbbad was my latest late watch since it was released way back and I missed the cinematic experience in theatre at that point of time. I still carry a jealousy towards the viewers who has watched visual masterpieces like these in big screens simply due to the fact that I was not able to replicate the same like them.

Set in the backdrop of an imaginary village known as Tumbbad and compiled with some folklore fantasy, we all get hooked to the film from the first frame itself. Matching excellent narrative to intriguing execution is something which is rarely seen and Tumbbad succeeds in doing so. With its limited unknown cast, makers has given at most importance to child characters which are an essential part of the movie. When executing a theme like this, you need to get your technicality right, from VFX to editing and BGM, and they seem to strike a perfect balance between a commercial entertainer and an artistic documentary.

Even though the dialogues are dramatic at some places, they justified the same by making the whole narrative a dramatic one. Since this one is a fantasy movie backed up with a logic of its own, it is fine to leave the makers freedom to their end. After a long time, you as an ardent filmgoer may get a chance to experience a pure getaway fantasy movie and 'Tumbbad' will stay in you heart even after the runtime of the movie.
