ANUGRAHEETHAN ANTONY

Anugraheethan Antony could be one of your feel good light hearted movie of the year or it may confine to a list, where a wafer thin plot is stretched beyond limits to reach no where. For me, it was the latter. Sunny Wayne has got a bunch of movies recently, but he seems to be clueless here and on the top of that he is playing the lead role in this film. The one thing which fails to get a connection with the viewers is the emotional melodramatic scenes of the movie. At no point you could connect with the protagonist while the rest of the cast is deliberately trying to create some momentum into the movie.

Makers tried to construct a fairy tale flick which started quiet interestingly, but after thirty minutes into the show only the flash back scenes remained intriguing, that too only to some extend. The father-son duo played by Siddique and Sunny initiated some laughter and that too didn't last long.

There was some market previously to the feel good movies in Malayalam Industry. We have seen a cluster of movies coming up with a mediocre plot and ending up with some great messages in the past. Apparently these sort of movies has served a greater audience in 2010-2017 era. But lately movies like 'Mohan Kumar Fans', 'Maniyarayile Ashokan' has gone into a cliched category which never clicked big time.

Anugraheethan Antony has received a great opening in the big screens, but was not well received in the OTT segment. Confining to a thin story line along with some mediocre performances from the lead cast can pointed out as a major drawback of this film. Strictly a one time watch if you can afford the luxury of wasting two hours!
