CHATHUR MUKHAM

Chathur Mukham is a film which had a lot of potential to be that genre defining film but falls in the midway unable to explain the warm hole which the storyline has gone into. Coined as the first techno horror film in India, Chathur Mukham starts off promisingly by depicting an active Manju Warrier in the lead role and fresh premise to begin with. After the inception of the initial thrill scenarios, film started revolving around the usual jump scare scenes which literally invoked boredom rather than the horror element.

Major suspense is revealed after the interval and from there inserting a logic into an illogical story is being carry forwarded with the assistance of Sunny Wayne and Alencier. The character of Sunny Wayne looks confused in this jumbled up storyline and his limited acting skills doesn't help too. Manju Warrier delivers a strong performance and the whole story is revolved around her. Trimming the whole movie into a two hour affair was one thing the makers could have done. A lengthy run time with a dragged second half makes this movie difficult to sit through.

Overall, there are promising elements like the likes of the technical department, VFX, and some apt BGM which makes this flick interesting to some point. Chathur Mukham is precisely meant to be a theatrical watch considering the core theme which it handles, but a Friday night OTT watch could turn out to be a dull affair !
